Stuck Like Glue

Dustin and I got married in 2002. I remember it was hot and a little windy that day. A beautiful wedding at my Mom's house with Dustin's Dad performing the ceremony. It's seemed...perfect. But something was missing, a key component to this whole thing. That missing component was "true" meaning. You see, I loved Dustin and thought marrying him seemed like a good idea at the time.

In 2008, EVERYTHING changed. Every thought, every action, every everything in my life was changed when I became a believer in Jesus Christ. Included in that everything was my marriage. I looked at it from a completely different point of view...God's. Marriage became something that started as a "good idea" and has now morphed in to "stuck like glue".

You see, I entered into marriage thinking the outcome would be determined by me, how we got along, how nice he was to me, etc. Now I realize my marriage is what God wants it to be. In Genesis 2:24, God tells us "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh." Later, in 1 Corinthians Chapter 7, God inspires Paul to give us instruction on a Christian marriage. There are obviously many other verses I could have chosen, all of which I hope you have or will have the pleasure of viewing and living out in your own marriage.

Over the last two years, I have had the pleasure and blessing to "morph" my marriage into something totally different. It has been an amazingly hard and wonderful journey. My marriage is till death do us part. No easy outs, no do overs. This can only be accomplished through a relationship with Jesus Christ. God knows we can't do it by ourselves.

Boy, all this really makes me want to renew my vows...before GOD!

Thank you God for saving me. Thank you for giving me a husband. We are both imperfect...sinners, and we fail a lot. But, with God at our side, we can do and overcome anything. He still drives me crazy sometimes. I'm sure he'd say the same about me, but this is MY blog! :)
